I don't mind American accents - it just seems weird to hear people actually talking to you with an American accent, rather than in films or on TV.  :-D

Neobaron

Ahh well in that case I understand.

I once worked with an Australian...

Was annoying as hell till i figured out that was her real accent.

Then i went home all excited to report to Holby, who didnt care.  :-P

I don't have issues with accents, just people who slur all their words together.

Notices I was mentioned concerning accents from different places in the US of A.

As a Californian, I was down in Texas and someone walked up to me and said:

?You talk just like those guys on the television.?

Another cute story. I was entertaining the fianc?e of a friend who was right out of New Zealand (almost an Australian accent for those that don?t know). We took her shopping and she asked the sales gal ?Do you have this in a smaller size??
Sales girl asked, ?What did you say??
Wolf, ?She wants to know if you have it in a smaller size.?
Sales girl, ?Same color??
New Zealand, ?What??
Wolf, ?Do you want it in the same color??
New Zealand, ?Oh yes, that will be fine.?
Sales girl, ?Will does she??
Wolf, ?Yes, do you have that in the same color in a smaller size??
Sales girl, ?Oh yes, I will be right back.?
New Zealand, ?What did she say??
Wolf, ?She said she will be right back.?

It was about then that I realized I was translating English into English.

I used to do technicall support for RoadRunner Broadband, and it always amazed me that the first thing a customer would ask me was, "Your from Canada aren't you? I could tell cause you accent."
and I couldn't tell a difference between accents

course, I've also had customers tell me that I "talk good english for a Canadian"

Heh,

"Well talking English"
says sign badly translated
in foreign country

Not that that relates to anything, but that's what I thought of when I read it.

nah, thats how they talk in the southern states
(most of my divisions were in Texas, Tenessee and Mississippi)

the word 'speak' just isn't in their vocabulary

and for some reason they think we don't speak english in Canada.

but then again, these are the people who phone me to complain that their internet (which they refer to as "my Yahoo") doesn't work when the power is out in their city.

LOL. I run into the same sort of stuff at my job. I work at Dippin Dots, and the most frequently asked question is: Do you have regular ice cream? And I say, "No, all we have is dots." Also "That's ice cream?" and I really wanna say "That's what the sign says." Customers are retarded. You'd really have to work there with me to get an idea of just how mind-numbingly stupid they are. Of course by the end of the shift, I'm not much smarter, mostly because it's the most boring work imaginable, but I can't zone out completely, cause I am handling money, so as a result, my brain gets thrashed from the double whammy of not being able to think about anything else, and the stupidity of my customers. I can't WAIT until I'm out of college and am working doing something I love. (Or at least a job that isn't as bad as this one. I HATE food industry jobs. I was a fry jockey at BK, and now I'm an ice cream b*tch at Dippin Dots. After BK, I swore I'd never work in the food industry again, but I got desparate when books cost 600 dollars and I only had 300. I owe my dad 300 dollars.)

My job is worse. I'm a busboy. Tuesday night I had to wait for almost an hour for a table of 17 to leave so I could leave. There was absolutely nothing for me to do during this time, so I took a nap in one of the booths.

I've had some doosy bad jobs :-P
but I think anything relating to customer service is what I hate the worst
doing tech support was hell on Earth and is the reason I hate cubicles!

thats why when I quit, I went into landscaping to get outdoors (ahh, natural sunlight)

course I've had 2 other jobs since then  :|

lol, I'm on my 14th job since I graduated
