Never mind, I failed the poetry unit last year.

One of my poems (I wrote this when I was 10 years old after reading Martin the Warrior)

The morning dawn soon turns to night,
As the moon casts rays of bright.
All those who've died in the wars,
Have gone behind Dark Forest doors.
And those alive are yet still weeping,
For their friends eternally sleeping...

My own little creation (it does not rhyme, just flows):

The flower stands
as the city falls
those who hold the flower, stand
those who guard the city, fall

 Indeed.

Hmm.. poetry.. *tries to think of some* Hm, nope.

I am short.
I am odd.
My name is Mort.
My best friend is Todd.
You know you envy this poem
Which really isn't poetry at all
It has no metre or rhythm
Nor a rhyming pattern,
Alas for the poem.

Whoops, learn to type, Sha.

 *claps*

What a lovely bit of free verse!
Proud of you, I am.

"There once was a Sha on the forums
whose poems made everyone bored... uhmmm...
She posted them all
Through the summer and fall
but once they were up, we ignore'd'um!"

I wrote a poem once, and entered it in this contest at Abbess Senna's Redwall.  But I feel like posting.  Yay!  Not as light as every body else's, but oh well.

The otter swims
With the noon-day breeze
He glides along
Like falling leaves
And in his heart are joyful songs
Because he is were he belongs

The dibbuns dance
Inside Redwall
Some of them skip
Whilst others crawl
And in each heart is a sunny song
Because they are were they belong

The slave quivers
From impeding doom
His soul is filled
With lots of gloom
And his heart is full of dread
Being a slave is worse than dead

 War

Tides change,
Seasons pass.
War is here,
You won't outlast.

All I can say
Is here we come.
You'd better watch out,
You'd better run.

This is my warning,
My smoking gun.
No more warnings,
No more fun.

I leave you with this
Declaration of war.
You should've surrendered,
I'll toil no more.

You will be punished
For your evil deeds.
Though I've warned you,
You've failed to heed.

I'll force you into submission,
You'd better comply.
It's now or never.
Do or die.

You killer,
You've murdered and maimed.
It all ends here,
Right now, today.

You've done it before,
You'd do it again.
That's why I must do this,
Good-bye, my friend.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This next one is published, and keep in mind both are copyrighted:

Tribute to Troops

Flaming arrows zip through the sky,
Mission to kill, enemy to die.
The work of a warrior, fighter, protector.
All of these happening,
amidst the terror.
Running civilians scared of it all.
Afraid their body will be the next to fall.
They call it war, the evil thing.
It happens a lot, and some are used to this sort of thing.
A way of life, a second nature.
Let's hope it is gone, but remember
those who died, so tyranny would fall.
Willing to die at a moments' call.
The brave and proud, the few, yet strong.
They came to this Earth, and now they are gone.

Like 'em? Directly to you from a published poet.

 Hmm...
Here's my wonderful poem that I thought up 10 seconds ago:

There once was some guy named Brock,
Who liked to talk and talk,
Then somebody said "Brock be quiet!"
And so he started a riot.

Hmm... not very good.  Here's another one I wrote for school:  never mind I can't remember it.  Maybe I'll post it later if I find it. :P

I like it!  Very spiffy!  Humm... *makes up another poem*

The once was a girl Calan
And people thought she was a man
So the punched in their face
With her huge badgerish mace

Ta-da.

There once was a maiden named Cal,
Who corrected all of her pals
On their spelling mistakes
which they chronically make
Yeah, she's a spelling-proof gal.

*cheers*

Good job, Cal! I pride myself on not making that many spelling mistakes at all, and getting one step away from the Scripps and Howard National Spelling Bee, barely losing by a couple words. I have a little more time to make it, so who knows?
