Polling / Music Cage Match Week 19
February 25, 2010, 06:33:08 PM
Going back to relatively unknown bands now, but still keeping with the Cage Match theme. Maiden won last week, by a big margin, so here's Iron Maiden vs. Tristania!

Polling / Music Cage Match Week 18

Ok, I know I let it go a little long, but I've been busy. Sorry everyone. Slayer won last "week", so this week it goes up against Iron Maiden. This is a match-up I've wanted to see for awhile. And yes, I know Maiden is pretty mainstream in terms of record sales and whatnot, but they almost never get radio airtime on the big rock stations. Next week I'll stick a less known band in.

Polling / Music Cage Match Week 17

Well, I waited awhile on this one, to see it if I was going to get anymore votes. But it seems that Eluveitie has won again, by a vote of 3 to 2. So here's a little Slayer, we'll see if that can knock Eluveitie off it's perch.

Reg Discussion / Woof, there it goes.
January 14, 2010, 05:55:07 PM
With BlackFly gone, and Woof having only 3 members, I've decided to retire the venerable name of Woof. For now anyway. Maybe sometime in the future, I will revive it once again. For now though, it had a good run. Thanks to all former and current members, couldn't have done it without you.

Polling / Cage Match Week 15
January 13, 2010, 06:35:30 PM
So, somewhat amazingly to me, American Pie lost week. At the request of several people, I've decided to reinject a little hard rock into the Cage Match. This week it's Mumford and Sons, last weeks winners, up against a Swiss folk metal band. No lyrics to this one, just an instrumental. The first 40 seconds are just the bagpipe, for the main tune, skip ahead to 41 seconds. Thanks to Gorak for the suggestion.

Don't whine about American Pie, it won last week, and I'm going to follow the rules of the Cage Match. It just has to win twice more to be put in the Hall of Fame. Or maybe it will lose in the next two weeks. Anyway, here are your choices.

Sorry this isn't exactly prompt guys, I've been busy with Christmas and whatnot. Last "week" Whiskey in the Jar won, so this week it goes up against a classic American song.

Polling / Cage Match Week 12

Well, Flogging Molly has won 3 in a row, so it is going to be officially retired. Two new ones this week, and to get away from the Hard Rock/Punk theme, here's a folk song and an alternative song.

First off, it's "Istanbul (Not Constantinople) by  "They Might Be Giants". Oh and do listen to the whole song.

And the classic Irish Folk Song: Whiskey in the Jar, performed by "The Dubliners"

Polling / Rock and Roll
September 24, 2009, 12:02:13 PM
All five acts became popular in the late 1950's, early 1960's. Berry is credited by many with being one of the creators of the genre, which makes sense, since rock and roll evolved out of African American music. Cash was primarily a country music artist, but he also made some rock and roll songs. Rock and roll had a lot of influences from country music as well. Elvis and the Beatles are the two best selling artists of all time, so while neither can really be credited with creating the genre, they can both be credited with popularizing it. The Stones were part of the same wave of British artists that the Beatles were, and are also extremely popular, so I figure they deserve mention too.

Turbo Discussion / Question for Warlords of Pain
August 20, 2009, 10:05:07 AM
So your net holder, Rally, has just gone into vacation. My question is, why? Are you using the abusing the code like Bob and Co. did a few rounds ago, or is was he just inactive too long? I don't think it's the latter, because he was on and passing net just a couple days ago. So what's going on? If you really are abusing the code, I have to say that it means I'm going to lose a huge amount of respect for everyone in that clan.

Broke him, took nearly a billion stoats to do it. If anyone who can attack him could, we could whittle down his stoats a bit and make the next break easier.

Clans / Woof reforms!
April 12, 2009, 02:42:32 AM
Well, the war against BlackFly will not be carried over to this new round, unless they provoke me/us again, but this is an open invitation to all former Woof members, from any round, to join up. We're going to be taking a new direction, and will be offering instruction to any players who wish to get help from some of the games elite players.
