Who are the members of ROME and why do they seem so unfriendly?

 Nobody knows who they are...

Unfriendly? Oh, they're probably grumpy about something, no doubt.

Rome is a froup of either John's college buddies or some old RWL-ers under a new name... Well, that's wrong, hehe...  ^_^

Nero should at least remember to capitalize his own name if Nero is going to refer to himself in the third person.

I think they seem pretty nice. A little hot headed maybe. And they seem a little friendly, Domitian is a jerk, but this Titus fella and Nero are pretty nice and funny. They are ok I guess. I see no reason why we have to get angry at them for being new.

*pokes Nero* I wasn't being serious, you know. I know the people in Rome aren't really grumpy...I've taken a liking to Majorian, Constantine, and Marcus myself. They all seem very overconfident though, I think.

mayhaps Nero prefers their name to not be capitalized..  I perfer for my name to be in the lowercase, though, if Nero wished their name to not be capitalized they shouldnt have named themselves Nero, shoulda been nero..

 Ok...

I'm sorry if I have offended you, Nero. I'm just saying that you guys seem a little unfriendly because your clan crier page is slightly hostile (to my eyes at least). It was not meant as an attack upon you or your friends.   I'm really sorry...

Nero's nice, but Flamius seems like a hothead... maybe it's because they only managed to lower Wolf Bite 1 rank when they tried to kill him...

 Weasel -

Our clan crier is merely an extension of our diplomatic statuses. We wish to give reasons why things will happen that may anger clans when they do, just to say we've given them fair warning.

QuoteNero's nice, but Flamius seems like a hothead... maybe it's because they only managed to lower Wolf Bite 1 rank when they tried to kill him...

What are you talking about? We don't have a Flamius.

 Constantine -

As I said, I'm sorry. On first look, your clan crier page looks hostile to everyone. Reading it again, it doesn't seem too bad. I once again must state that I am really sorry for jumping to conclusions.  :(

Kilk -

Well... They aren't necessarily overconfident. In my opinion, many other oldbies around here are even more over-confident. Just because ROME may be over-confident doesn't mean that the oldbies aren't worse...

They seemed hostile to me at first, but they actually seem nice enough. I just wish their diplomatic  stance wasn't so unfriendly...

Nero -

Once again, I'm sorry for offending you. You, at least, seem rather friendly.

windhound, yeah..  nero wishes he had thought about how he wanted his name to look before signing up, but Emporer Nero is a proper noun, so...
yeah, us romans are fairly harmless..  though, nero says that thats contraditory, because the romans of olde were quite violent..  this is where you must look at the individaul members/emporers of rome..

Dead Eye, how about you shut your mouth! And I think us Romans are better then your "oldbies" We after all, show our names. Most of you hid and never say your names in game. ~cough Dead Eye cough~ The orginal Romans were hostile, I mean, their orgin was from two twin brothers who were raised by the wolves. After founding Rome the two brothers fought, and one ended up killing the other by hiting him over the head with a rock. That is how the first king of Rome was crowned. By killing his twin brother with a rock. We are violent, but each to his own.

Quote from: DomitianAnd I think us Romans are better then your "oldbies" We after all, show our names.
HAHAHAHAAHAHAH... you're kidding me right? My hunch, as usual gets more correct and correct.

Lets break this down. Deadeye came out with that information about a month ago? That means you've read every piece of spam/nonsense/and GD for over a month? Or you're really just an "oldbie" (or some of you are), in disguise?

Since Beatles is one of the romans, (we know because he posted under his Rome account when referring to his already known account), which leads me to believe that you others are A: Taught by him and B: his friends. This also leads me to believe (on point B ) that A: You are good players or B: You are a mixed group, being taught by some of the best people to ever grace this game.

Either way...

BTW: If any romans contact me, I'll take this out.

And: referring to Orcrist's post... ummm I'd change that quick. You're A: Either really serious, B: Are a Roman or know who the Roman's are, and attempting to downplay this.

EDIT2: You know, I'm probably going to sound stupid here, but doesn't dominus mean lord/master... so Domitian...? I dunno, I don't know a lot about Roman History, we only spent a little while on it, though I should learn, as a lot of my heritage lies there. Whatever though

Legend can be a true story. fact is no one knows if it really happened. And Joe, all their names are real Roman Empires from the past, I found out. ~did Rome in S.S. all last year~  Anyways, I think these Romans are just Beatles friends or something. They aren't that good, look at them.

Post by: Gen. Volkov on October 31, 2003, 05:47:35 PM
Er.. actually my post about legends may have been a little been influenced by how annoyed I was earlier.. actually legends are originally true stories that have been exaggerated over the years, yet still do contain some element of truth. I have a really good example of this.. but it would offend Christians who take every word of the Bible literally.. and I've already been scolded for that once.. so I go with the Legend of Paul Bunyan... there probably was a very large man who once chopped down trees in the Northwest.. but he wasn't as big as they say and he probably didn't have a giant Blue Ox.
Title: ROME
Post by: Dead Eye on October 31, 2003, 05:55:46 PM
Exactly. That is what I am saying. I doubt a she-wolf raised the twins and yet some how they showed up and started a kingdom and could speak Latin. I mean, thats plain stupid. But I have no doubt two twin brothers fought each other to be the first king of Rome

Post by: Gen. Volkov on October 31, 2003, 06:03:36 PM

Question: Why is Rome acting like they are trying to be peaceful when Marcus has made 29 attacks with only 2 defenses? That seems very aggresive to me and unjustified.  Do you so-called "Romans" have a response for this aggresion?
Title: ROME
Post by: Bloodrath on October 31, 2003, 09:31:00 PM
Heh, compaird to what I have done in the game at times, I would call that peaceful. ;) If this all happened in one day that isn't bad. People really do get to hyped about what is right and wrong. Unless you are a clan like Winter was who spoke the word of peace, then it is free game for you to attack as much as you want, hopefully knowing that people will try and counter you in the end, but hitting the heck out of a few people can be a good strat to use. Just putting my two sense in.

nero finds that this would be a good time to grab a phrase he stated earlier in this topic.  nero feels that it might clear up the attacking question
Quotethis is where you must look at the individaul members/emporers of rome..
each has their own style..
to each their own.  we may be unified under a clan name and horde titles, yet we each have individuality, as each of the roman emperors did..  nero was completly insane in his later life, and he forced the citicens of rome to come and listen to him sing.  many men were reported to have faked death to get out and atleast one woman gave birth during a concert...  noone was allowed to leave.
which would you rather be, attacked or senernaded?
Title: ROME
Post by: The Lady Shael on November 01, 2003, 08:28:34 AM
Just because Marcus made several attacks doesn't mean the entire clan is aggressive. Hmf, I'VE made more attacks than that. Last era that is, I'm still in protection.

And Nero has a point. They all have their own personality. Maybe it isn't very evident on the game, but they've all posted on the forums, and you can see what they're like. And he has another point- you probably don't want to hear him sing.

Post by: Commodus on November 01, 2003, 08:41:17 AM
Twenty-nine attacks my dear friend, are nothing in the relative scheme of things. Not only were these attacks spread around a variety of members, they were neither malicious in intent or action.

"Unjustified?"
He attacked the best land sources, he's a talented player with a unique style of play. Obviously as you leave protection your attack rate will be higher than your defensive rate.

Thanks Shael!

I'm not really mad at them, I'm just sick of their farming. Why do they have to farm people? Because they have control. This is the problem with the scenario when a clan takes the top ten. They are greedy and get a whole bunch of troops that they can't really afford. Then, to afford them, they attack simpletons like me. I just don't like being rank 15 and getting smashed by no. 3. I have no problem with them dominating, I DO have a problem with people attacking someone they know isn't as skilled or as high-ranked as them.

Quotewindy... His name just looks right uncapitalised...
that's exactly why, I like it, personal preference..  e. e. cummings (sp) is a poet that never capitalized their name..  my insperation for not capitalizing windhound, though, horde names should be capitalized really..
Windhounds seems to have more 'presence' than windhounds..

Rome is just what they decided to call themselves, like any other clan, DI, EVTF, AMD, Rome was chosen probubly because of historical reference, donno exactly why that time period was chosen, yet some other clan are taking from history, Company in Turbo, read the Clan Crier for more info on that..   neat really..
The Roman Empire also was very large and dominated for quite a time..  prehaps its makers were being hopeful that Rome would do the same...

It could also have been meant to have a story line behind it. Or just to scare people. I mean, most clans names are to scare people. And they added the affect even better when they decided all their names should be Roman Emperors. That addec extra story line to their name.
