General Discussion / Firefox Extentions...
November 21, 2004, 12:40:13 AM
I know quite a few people here use firefox, and if you are still using IE go to www.mozilla.org and download it ^_^  tis free and >> Internet Explorer

anyways, I was wondering if anyone has found any useful extensions fer it

One I found useful was FoxyTunes

It allows you to control various music players from your brower window..  pretty neat...  you'll still need your player open ofcourse, it's like a remote..

but that's the only real useful one I've found...  *shrugs*

Bugs / take city -> kill bug
November 19, 2004, 05:18:23 PM

it didnt give me credit for my kill because the final attack took a city
also, not that it really matters, the 'take city' code is still extraordinarily buggy with loads of extra code and it says you 'move south' when you take a city...

Turbo Discussion / Not Right
November 05, 2004, 12:10:32 AM
The point of turbo is to help your clan win

Viking (#38) is a detriment to Ice
I would be grateful to the fire horde who killed them ^_^
tis rather cold to say the least, but I am in a clan called ice

he prevented me from making a kill and made me waste 450 turns and quite a few resources...

I'm not happy.

October 20, 2004, 08:02:34 PM

according to iTunes I have 658 songs, 1.7 days of music, taking up 1.96 gigs of space..  I think it missed some though..  I forgot about 4/5 of my Rush music..  need to find thoes..
iTunes is super spiffy...  MusicMatch is better for ripping and burning though..

General Discussion / Interresting Gimmic

 http://www.freeipods.com/default.aspx?referer=10495670

I bothered to sign up for it and look around, 'cause I wondered how it works..  plus I wouldnt mind an iPod ;)

how it works is that to get the iPod you have to sign up with one of their partners, for instance I signed up for a free trial with www .ansestory.com  (sp) and then you have to get 5 of your friends to do the same.  In this way it spreads, as your five friends probably would want their iPod, and thus spread it on to five of their friends.
so freeipods.com's partners, which include Blockbuster, the NewYork times, NetZero etc. get buisness, or atleast intrest in their site, and /supposingly/ you get a free iPod..  methinks I'll try to find 5 others interrested in this and I'll let yall know if it works..  if you click the link up top and sign up with one of their sponsors (you'll need a credit card for most of them) then I get one credit ^_^

A rather scary thing is that, although the Ansestory.com trial thing is fully free, if you forget to cancel and say you're not interrested in their full service after your 14 day trial is up, on the 16th day you'll get billed $199 for a year's subscription /automatically/ (ouch) Other than that Ansestory (sp) seems to be the safest and freest (heh heh) sponsor...

General Discussion / Computer Help
September 30, 2004, 11:21:24 PM
Ok..  I think there may be a few people who could explain this to me, if you could I'd appriciate it ^_^

ok, when I open my computer, double click the C: drive, and it shows all the files supposingly it is showing me the contents of my C: drive, so I told it to select all and right clicked and selected properties, which should show me the file size of all the files on my comp, right?
yet, when I right click the C: drive and select the properties, it gives me a different number...

so I've got 7 gigs that are somehow hidden.. how's this?

September 28, 2004, 11:55:51 AM

yeah, I know he killed me, does it have to say it twice  ;)
not a real big bug, as he only gets credit for one kill, but a smallish bug all the same.. I think this happend when somone else was killed too, only two different people got credit for the same...  *shrugs*

 American Pie
-Don McLean

QuoteA long, long time ago... I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance,
That I could make those people dance,
And maybe they'd be happy for a while.

But February made me shiver,
With every paper I'd deliver,
Bad news on the doorstep...
I couldn't take one more step.

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside,
The day the music died.

Soo..Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die

Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so
Do you believe in rock 'n' roll
Can music save your mortal soul
Then you can teach me to dance real slow

Well I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancing in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man I dig those rhythm and blues

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
but I knew that I was out of luck
The day the music died

I started singin'...

Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die

Now for 10 years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rolling stone
But that's not how it used to be

When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
In a voice that came from you and me

And while the King was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned

While Lennon read the book of Marx
The quartet kept practice in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died

We were singin'

Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die

Helter Skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast

It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast

Now the halftime air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance

'Cause the players tried to take the field,
The marching band refused to yield.

Do you recall what was revealed,
The day the music died?

We started singing
Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die

There we were all in one place
A generation lost in space,
With no time left to start again

So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candle stick
'Cause fire is the devil's only friend.

As I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in hades
Could break that satan's spell

And as flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw satan laughing with delight
the day the music died.

He was singing
Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away

I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn't play

And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken

And the three men I admire most
The Father Son and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

They were singin'

Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die
I found and repaired a few glitches in thoes lyrics, but they're mostly right...

yeah, truely awesome song..  for thoes who havnt heard it before here's a low quality copy.  You'll need realplayer though..  and it's 8 min and 30 some seconds long ^_^

So are there any people out there that can tell me what atleast one line referrs to?  eh, probably not concidering the events it referrs to occured in the 1950s and 1960s..I found one site that broke it down litterally line by line..  that dang song is packed full of allusions and symbolism.. here's a site that breaks it down fairly well for thoes who are curious...
Would you believe that entire song centers around one plane crash?  the crash killed three prominant rock musicians, and that day is referred to as the day the music died..  Holly the prominant one mentioned in this song..

but yeah, your thoughts on this and possibly other songs that you like..

Polling / Ebay
September 16, 2004, 02:30:34 PM
 ebay is currently huge...
rather hard to get good prices on things anymore, but it's the place to go to find discontinued stuff..  like Red Barron 3D and Sidewinder joysticks..

so are there any ebayers out there?  obviously most here wouldnt have their own accounts, as you have to be 18 to get one, but I ordered quite a few things via my mum's account before I got mine own..

hrm..  as it's not exactly advertising online gaming I think this is alright in GD..  if not, Admins feel free to move it...

I was wondering what kind of PC Games yall like to play, if any..
my brother kept almost all the original game disks at home, so all I've got here in college is Halo, Hydro Thunder, and Zoo Tycoon..

Halo lags a bit where there are many many moving things on the screen, but most of the time my comp. handles it fairly well..  which is good, 'cause it's brand new..  lol..

Hydro Thunder yall might better know as an arcade game..  I have only rarely seen it out for PC, I found my copy on Ebay, some person in Great Britian was selling it..  I think it's also for Playstation?  ah well..  it's a boat racing game with decent graphics for it's time (a few years old)..  the best I've seen as far as boat sims..

and, well, Zoo Tycoon is rather self explanitory..  manage a zoo..  my brother likes going in and setting the tigers and dinosaurs loose on the geusts...  meh

I like most of the Need for Speed sierries too..  but I dont have any with me...
