My dogs with the crossbows are from my Clan in the SCA. I helped design it and they are really my crossbow.

I used to fight sword and board (sword and shield) but I found out I only have one kidney, so I had to stop fighting. I switched to target archery but couldn't not fight. I got going with combat archery and I shoot people with padded bolts. Pretty safe, well as safe as full contact football. Most of the injuries are from stupid behavior. We are fully insured and are a non-profit organization, with the IRS. We also have marshals, who over-see safety. I sometimes do that when there is no combat archery allowed in the scenario. We also use real ballistas, trebeche's and catapolt's, called sieg engines. If any of you get a chance to be in Pennsylvania around August, check out a 2 week event called Pennsic (http://www.pennsic.net/) Or if your near Goodyear Arizona in February, check out Estrella War (http://www.estrellawar.com/) that's my neighborhood.
