Bugs / The highly inaccurate Recent News losses
April 24, 2010, 11:37:10 AM
Highly inaccurate, at a minimum. Double damage, I think.

Losses:

45,768 acres ($22,884,000 networth)
46,534,698 stoats ($186,138,792 networth)
635,381,977 grain ($12,707,640 networth)
$3,211,205,079 cash ($1,284,482 networth)

Total losses: $223,014,914 networth

Quick estimation reveals that I ACTUALLY lost approximately twice that amount. Prior to the losses being inflicted, by networth was approximately $980,000,000. At this point, it's dropped to approximately $571,153,748. That's a greater than $400,000,000 loss reflected as well in troops and cash lost (but not counted, and I would assume grain as well would factor in). That's double the amount lost sans the value of land loss.

So either an exploit was in use by Bewj (Juskabelly, if I'm not mistaken) or there's a rather serious readout bug that needs to be fixed.

Development / Permanent Attack Overhaul
July 30, 2009, 01:48:08 PM
A few ideas I've come up with.

1) Round attacks to 20 on an unclanned warlord
2) Adjust attack ops based on networth change; if someone is maxed and doubles their NW, half their attack ops open. If someone increases their networth ten-fold, 90% of their attack ops open.
3) Adjust sack and capture potential based on OP/DP basis.

Sack = ( OP / DP ) / 50

So, Sack = ( 1000 / 500 ) / 50 = 0.04, or 4% of food is sacked and 4% of cash is sacked. To determine this number, food is valued at $10 each and cash at face-value. So if someone has 10,000 food and $100,000 cash ($100k in cash, $100k in food), that's the total value for the sack. As they're equal, it'd be half in food and half in cash. $8000 worth would be sacked; $4000 cash, 400 food.

Put a limit on OP/DP at something like 4 or 5. A 4 limit would put the limit of sacking at 8% and a 5 limit would put the limit of sacking at 10%. These are fairly large numbers. The other thought is to give Standard Attack the full power Sack and Capture, limiting Guerilla/Bombard/Aerial/Naval to perhaps half-power or less. This will keep sacking reliable and profitable.

Similarly...

Capture = ( OP / DP ) / 100

So, Capture = ( 1000 / 500 ) / 100 = 0.02, or 2% of leaders are captured in an attack.
Put the limit on Capture at something like 4 or 5 again, so that Capture = ( 1000 / 0 (rounded to 1) ) / 100 = 0.05, or 5% of leaders are captured in an attack. This will make defending as a leader much more lucrative. In order to balance this, give Standard perhaps a 50% boost in leaders captured; make it worth your while to use the tougher attack types.

4) Make clans more lucrative; make it an actual player that can be attacked and defended. Bestow something like 1 turn an hour per member in the clan. Stats are made up of all players in that clan.

George: 100,000 rats, 1,000 weasels, 10,000 stoats, 5,000 skiffs, 5,000 leaders, 1,500 land.
Tom: 5,000 rats, 10,000 weasels, 1,000 stoats, 5,000 skiffs, 100,000 leaders, 1,000 land.
Harry: 1,000 rats, 10,000 weasels, 5,000 stoats, 100,000 skiffs, 5,000 leaders, 500 land.

Boys Total: 106,000 rats, 21,000 weasels, 16,000 stoats, 110,000 skiffs, 110,000 leaders, 3,000 land.
Boys OP: 994,000
Boys DP: 1,160,000
Boys Leader Ratio: 36.6667 on 3,000 land

Sue: 0 rats, 0 weasels, 0 stoats, 1,000 skiffs, 100,000 leaders, 1,000 land.
Betty: 1,000 rats, 1,000 weasels, 1,000 stoats, 1,000 skiffs, 100,000 leaders, 1,000 land.
Martha: 100,000 rats, 5,000 weasels, 5,000 stoats, 1,000 skiffs, 1,000 leaders, 500 land.

Girls Total: 101,000 rats, 6,000 weasels, 6,000 stoats, 3,000 skiffs, 201,000 leaders, 2,500 land.
Girls OP: 340,600
Girls DP: 179,000
Girls Leader Ratio: 80.4 on 2,500 land

Now there are two land attacks and a few leader missions. The Boys would be able to do Standard Attacks on the Girls. If they wanted to use Capture, for example...

Capture = ( OP / DP ) / 100
Capture = ( 994,000 / 179,000 ) / 100
Capture = 5.5531 / 100
Capture = 0.05553
Capture = 11,162 leaders distributed evenly to the Boys (3720.5 to each)

Now what if they wanted to use Clan Leader missions?

Boy's Attack Ratio = 40
Girl's Defense Ratio = 84.42
AR / DR = 0.4738

The Boys would be unable to do anything against the Girls, at least as a clan. Now let's look at the inverse...

Girl's Attack Ratio = 73.0909
Boy's Defense Ratio = 38.5
AR / DR = 1.8985

The girls would be able to do anything BUT use Leader Attack.

Here's how leadering as a clan would be different.

Espionage = Shows the sum of offensive points, defensive points, as well as the total networth, total leader count, and total land count. Less information, but more of what "matters" to a clan attacking.
Murder = 3% on all warlords (cut down to 1% when using shields)
Poison = 9.12% food and 12.76% cash destroyed (cut down to 3.04% food and 4.25% cash when using shields) on all warlords.
Steal = 10-15% cash stole (3.33% to 5% when using shields) from the warlord with the most cash.
Open Attack Opportunity = 1 attack opportunity opened on every member of that clan.

Thoughts? Alternative suggestions?

Bugs / 'nother Clan Readout Issue
April 21, 2009, 10:32:29 PM
I was just taking a look at clan ranking on Turbo.

Interrogations for Fun and Profit!     Question     6     $192,031,922     $1,152,191,529
Answer    Answer    5    $103,634,913    $414,539,652
Forces of Evil    F.O.E.    6    $30,231,667    $211,621,671

Two few issues with read-out...
1) There are 7 members of FOE
2) There are 4 members of Answer

I'm unsure what's happening with FOE, but with Answer it appears that #45's death and thus removal from the clan is still being counted as a member (and founder).

Bugs / Invisible, Impenetrable Wall?
April 20, 2009, 12:42:56 AM
I just ran into a weird glitch. I was doing a few quick little studies into doing kills (I killed 1 warlord and then started on a second) and I ran into an issue. At 5 land, my target seemed to erect an impenetrable wall of defenses. I attacked with 22 million rats and I couldn't break at 100% health. I proceeded to do an espionage on the target's clan and I found something interesting: there were ~500k rats or so total, meaning that the maximum sized 200k rats shared were doing some real overtime: 20x overtime. ??? Further, I wasn't losing the proper rate of troops. No matter what I did, that warlord stood at 5 land and I only lost a few hundred troops.

ADD'L INFO: I proceeded to kill another warlord in the clan and it all went normally. The first was the clan's leader, the second was the clan's assistant, the third was a normal member in the clan.

FINALE: Turned out what I found was basically a land disagreement--so long as rounds are setup, this should not happen (unless onlined where there's a slim chance of something like this happening).

Bugs / Troop Sharing Broken Again
April 12, 2009, 03:37:09 PM
I don't know if it's entirely broken, but troop sharing isn't working properly anymore. In short, custom sharing percentages have no effect. In my clan, 40% sharing is only showing as 10% sharing, so either readout is broken or it's only 10% of my forces being shared.

Turbo Discussion / Emperor Ublaz Has Fallen!
March 29, 2009, 08:27:45 AM
The Great Emperor of Samperta County, Ublaz, has been stuck down today by the sword of his Divisional Commander, Bob-sama, of the Army of Ublaz. In this viscous coup d'état, the mighty Commander Bob-sama had marched upon the flanks of his opposition. Divisional Commander Peace Alliance, of the Trident Guard, was entirely fortified around the remaining acres held by the former Emperor Ublaz himself. By marching upon the flanks of Peace Alliance, he commanded his army of Stoats to attack and cause chaos to the ranks of Peace Alliance, who threatened the balance of power in Samperta. Despite a noble effort and valiant fight, Peace Alliance's army of Stoats lay beaten in he wayside. As their Commander and his lieutenants begin to count the casualties, Bob-sama initiated the Emperor Ublaz's final orders: Operation Valkyrie, and peacefully and quickly overran the border. Bob-sama himself delivered the fatal blow, and has rightful claim to his Throne.

Emperor Ublaz is dead.

Yours,

Bob-sama

Development / Illegal Strategy?!? The Explorer!
October 14, 2008, 09:14:16 AM
Ok now, of course the strategy overall used to flood Regular with about 250,000 acres in about 3 minutes was illegal and used an exploit. The specifics of that exploit shouldn't be shared: it's still possible to do, just at a lower speed. Anyways: some people may have realized that you can scout for >250 land per turn as a Lizard at basically no land. Why should, in Regular or Turbo, scouting be illegal? My opinion is yes--it floods the game with land. It's uncontrollable: it's the strategy for EVERYONE ELSE. Neither Shade nor I could control who the land went to when we did it before, and again yes we flooded Reg with roughly 250k acres. So, I agree that the exploit itself should be 100% illegal. I disagree that scouting at 1 land should be illegal. It's your account, it's your time. If a player wants to scout for >100k land in a run, great. Let them--but don't let them use the exploit to speed it up a LOT. Scouting's in the game, again, because it's meant to make new land. My opinion is scouting at 1 land is as much an exploit as a suicide with 1 hut. The difference is scouting is an enabler, and brings new land into the game that may have been removed because people deleted, were disabled, or went on a long-term vacation. It's just another strategy.

By the way--the person scouting for all that land probably won't reap the benefits of that land: they get a tired hand and the hope that it helps an ally or two out.

Bugs / fudged up city dialogue
July 29, 2008, 08:45:52 PM
Well I don't know precisely what happened, but I lost all 18 of my Reg cities and it never displayed a dialogue of losing the land orcities. I had a number of failures from #288 preceeding it and then checked (18 cities cost a HELL of a lot of money to destroy) where they went. I don't have them, he doesn't have them either.

Well, it was fun. Cut free 75% of Iluvashley's NW and 50% of Alazar's NW. ;) Thanks to my friends and allies of course as well.

Some of my allies and friends will know about this. Anyways--attached is a piece of evidence from a few of your fellow players (Shade, Alazar, possibly others). What is this evidence? Is it real? Why would Bob-sama ever betray his allies like that?

So what's that say? Other than the obvious, it says that the person who took the screenshot had been using Internet Explorer 7 to make it. The window had to have been resized, so that the lines in that screenshot and the delete button are aligned. Do note that there is no timestamp on it--meaning no visible date of origin, no time of origin, and no way to really know when this was taken. Please, also note that the style of writing is incorrect. Had I been writing that, you would have seen my "signature" grammar--the over-use of "--", in that message would have likely been separating the first and second lines. Plenty of other places that the evidence would simply not hold water. Consider that there are no other messages from me contained in the screenshot, only that one message. If it had been from me, ever, it would not be present in that form on the current Turbo server.

Note a few other things as well--it's a JPG image that has been saved a few times--I'd estimate 3-4x prior by how distorted it has become. Now then--where's the problem? Is it true? Why is Bob-sama posting something that would harm him?

In short--because it's a fake. It's forged. It's not real--I didn't send that and admins can vouch for that fact. On the other hand--the message was sent. The message was to someone else. The difference is that the message was NOT from Bob-sama (#6).

[13:53] Bob: hi
[13:53] Shael (RWL): hey
[13:53] Bob: question...
[13:53] Bob: can you search the mail system for a particular piece of mail?
[13:53] Shael (RWL): i did
[13:53] Bob: Shade & Co are trying some fun slander
[13:53] Bob: nothing turned up?
[13:54] Bob: or did something turn up?
[13:54] Shael (RWL): i did see the message on the turbo system
[13:55] Bob: where?
[13:55] Bob: and from/to whom?
[13:55] Shael (RWL): it was not sent by you
[13:55] Shael (RWL): that's all i can say
[13:55] Bob: ok
...
[13:58] Bob: i didn't remember ever writing it
[14:00] Shael (RWL): yeah
[14:00] Shael (RWL): that's photoshopped
[14:01] Shael (RWL): cause it's not from you
[14:01] Bob: yeah--I know

So now--I have to thank those that forged it. Why? Because you're making yourselves out much worse than you could POSSIBLY make me--that you try to break up a team by forging evidence.

Thank you Shael for searching the system and being able to verify that it is in fact forged,

-Bob-sama-

Turbo Discussion / Round Theme Idea?
April 28, 2008, 05:45:02 PM
How about anonymous attacks? Basically base it off of stealing--that you can not see the person attacking unless they fail, and identities are only displayed on the recent attacks, such on warlord pages. I think it would make a more-interesting, if not more-aggressive, game. Onlining would still be seen and countered accurately (you can still click your own warlord's page and see the attacker), but anyone can still grab without some new person thinking you're declaring war on them. Make more effort to really retaliate. Alternatively, join this idea into the no-leaders theme.

Comments? Yay? Nay?

Bugs / Leader mission glitch
April 25, 2008, 07:04:31 PM
Bob-sama (#20)
Clan:
Saladin (#69)
Clan: Earth

Mission: Move South
Failed

I tried the Take mission, but it failed and displayed this message. I know why I failed too, but still that is a bit weird.

EDIT: Also...

Bob-sama (#20)
Clan:
Saladin (#69)
Clan: Earth

Mission: Move South
1000 Acres

It worked, but is still labeled incorrectly, regardless of success/failure.

In short, I was online'd by Feng. Why? Because I grabbed some land off of Wise Claw. Last time I checked, grabbing land is not a bad thing to do--afterall, we all need to spend those turns. Furthermore, I was being threatened not to grab off of someone who had about 56k land--and was at my rank. A fox by the name of Wise Claw. Of course I'm not going to listen to some BS such as that--especially when Wise Claw had about 2x the land as anyone else near their rank.

I'm not saying go off and kill Feng, but I will say that Feng was very much in the wrong.
