How long do you thinks its been between the events of Salamandastron and Redwall?

Probably not long. There is a age transition from the First Intermediate Age to the High Age between the two though.

I gave up trying to understand the Redwall timeline a long time ago.

The First Intermediate Age ends with Salamandastron and the High Age begins with Redwall.
