Title: Hello fellow Vermin
Post by: Grimm on January 02, 2018, 11:21:37 AM
Hello everyone! I just randomly ran into this game online and thought I would give it a try. I have been a huge fan of the Redwall series since I was just a dibbun and thought I would give this game a try. I already put in a post looking for a mentor in the strategy section, so if you are interested in helping me and want to hear what you would have to work with, take a look there under the Mentor Search thread. I'm looking forward to learning how to play this game! Thanks all!

Hello Grimm, welcome to RWL. The strategy section of the forum is a good resource, and the in game help section should give you all the basic info you need about how to play. Beyond that, well, at one point I was a designated mentor of new players, so once you work through the in game help guide, message me in game (Hounds of Ulster) and I'll give you a rundown of the basic strategies and how to run them.

Or if you want to learn how to play like a real beast message myself Sevz #5 ingame.
I'm currently in top position by a huge margin BUT I'm intentionally dropping down to the bottom.
Alternatively #7 is a great mentor along with #13. Message all of us and welcome to Redwall.

Where'd your 2.5tril cash - and your essentially unassailable advantage after abusing vacation - go?  :D

byakuya isnt even with us... A great first step to fighting a battle is knowing who your enemy is so you're welcome.

EDIT: Also it was less than 2 trillion cash (I had 1.7 when i hit the vacation button and my partner at the time had sent basically all of his cash to me) and, believe it or not, at the time I hit the vacation button we didn't have plans to war you guys (that changed when I discovered an extra 130 billion or so was missing before vacation took effect and my partner continuing to get sacked as well despite trying to resolve it peacefully). I took a vacation because the land was spread out so bad that the risk:reward ratio was too high, and there was no reason for me to just let baddies from a clan who can't produce their own cash to continue to steal mine.

so you have literally just admitted to abusing the vacation feature. Which is illegal but never has been punished, because nobody is ever silly enough to admit they didn't actually go on holiday and just used vacation as an invulnerability cheat button...

If you don't want people stealing your cash, you could use actual game mechanisms like troop defense to protect it.

Yes, the materialistic capitalist oppressors clearly do not understand the concept of a glorious communistic cooperative, in which each gives according to his ability and receives according to his need.

Hey, not my fault if people don't like you guys. Maybe if you guys were a little less cocky, people wouldn't be lining up to whoop your butts. Also, we've added two people, so that's 7, not 8. As for you guys, based on attack patterns there are at least 5, maybe 6 people working on your side. It's hard to tell exactly, because you guys keep clan hopping and/or not joining a clan at all. So who's the one who's scared? The team that clan hops to avoid retaliation or the group that has been clanned, announcing who they are the entire time? The teams are nearly as uneven as you claim, and from where I'm sitting, I'm not the one who's scared, especially seeing as you've been desperately scrambling from strategy to strategy trying to counter us.

What did you guys do for a whole month? As far as we're concerned you should be on 100b nw and 1m land. Pathetic scattered lot of you couldn't even pull ahead when we handed you the set. As soon as we started using turns to destroy networth, volk panicked and bombed a 9 billion NW lead. Since then he's frantically pmed several people on the forums, probably even logged into the ol' AOL instant messenger to recruit fellow brown nosers to take up arms against us evil-doers. It's been quite entertaining.

Well they didn't try a landlock, I guess for noble reasons?
Between the five of them they certainly could have.

I'd have (and, well, did..) initially massed resources instead of troops, no upkeep to deal with.
But /shrug.
Are you actually complaining about more players?

It is against the rules to abuse vacation, iirc a few people have been poked for it but it's been a long while.  It was mainly a problem with people submarining til right before the turbo reset.
In this case it was only like a day or two, but yeah please don't do that.

I am mulling putting back in the anti-clan-jumping code.
It is rather dirty, you gotta admit that.  Hard to pretend you have the highground what that sort of tactic.

Trash talk from someone whose team keeps abusing game features but still consistently underperform is amusing.

Also, we weren't running at that high intensity at the start + had a team of essentially three with GC also sometimes running. Plus the design of this set favours solo leaders for sure, even with no market.

Not as entertaining as watching you guys blow 2 trillion cash on a failed lock attempt, and then run around like headless chickens afterwards trying to find ways to beat us. As you well know, aside from Disl catching Capitan on low leaders, most of the net we had built went in to destroying the net you guys generated with your cash. Thanks to the spies I was continuously able to get on you guys, I know that your cloaked Fox had close to 4 bil NW on him at one point, but then I'm sure you already knew that. Anyway, we killed all that net, so I hardly "blew a 9 bil NW lead" (that I never had in the first place). I built the clan to defeat landlocks, and that's what we did. Perhaps we could have been more efficient about it, but eh.

As for the people who've joined... I haven't PMed anyone on these forums in months, probably years. Not sure how two people joining is me "frantically" doing anything anyway, I barely had to lift a finger. Like I said, people don't like you guys.

I'm enjoying the challenge. You guys are playing great and we've played poorly. One word to use is impressive.
Saying that, I don't have an ego to respond to the accusations. I have an issue with the clan hopping and encourage windy to make a lock in mode to avoid it.
RLA is a strong team and doing all the right things. Don't drop the ball. Our communication failed us. We'll see how it looks in a few days but dang you guys are kicking us all over for now.
I sent a request to join RLA last month and never got a response. Why?

Wow, thanks for the compliment Sevah. Truly appreciated.

As for your request to join the clan, I never saw it. It could have been declined by someone else in the clan leadership though. I would have been somewhat hesitant to let you in, given our past rivalry and antagonism though. Would have required some negotiations.

Smart play to jump into vacation with 3b networth. That's going to be critical in the final days of the round. Keep up the great work RLA. We're coming for you.

Just to be clear, I actually went on a real vacation that had limited internet connectivity. It was a lovely time and I tried cross country skiing for the first time.  It was wonderful to get away without Briarspawn No.1 since it will likely be the last time my husband and I will be able to do so before the arrival of Briarspawn No. 2.

This is what vacation is actually supposed to be used for.

I doubt your clan funneling every possible dollar of net worth they could on your warlord to remove it from play when you hit the button is "what vacation is actually supposed to be used for." You may have had a good reason to use it, but the way it was utilized was no less "abusive" than the instance your clanmates were complaining about earlier in the thread where I used it. I doubt anyone would have complained or even cared in the slightest if I vacationed with little or no assets regardless of the reason.

And no, I don't care that this was done, but calling this proper use of vacation while implying mine was improper when in both cases it was clearly used to protect a very significant amount of assets is silly. ::)

I don't think you can prove  anything you're accusing us. Difference being you admitted to vaca abuse. And the intentional maxing and clan hopping is plain for all to see. Baseless accusations from career cheats. Snare was disabled the first set I ever won for this exact kind of cheating. You guys are truly shameless...

I was going to make a post from the high ground about vacation abuse and such, but apparently I was the reason it got removed from Turbo 9 years ago
http://www.redwallwarlords.com/forums/index.php?topic=10945.0

So I mean, lol.
btw Firefight, Briar taking 3 bil worth of net into vacation, even a legit vacation (glad you had a nice time Briar!), was the same thing you and Volky complained about me doing nine years ago.  And you def. loaded Briar up right before she left, so it was intentional.
/shrug.

Previously the setup was that if someone vacation'd in reg, even if to protect net, it didn't really matter as they'd have to surface one day if they wanted to continue to play.  And if they didn't, whatever.
Historical evidence - http://www.redwallwarlords.com/forums/index.php?topic=16357.0

There is a land-leak implemented that drops 0.1% of your land to the landfarm every turn cycle while you're in vacation and have > the average land in the active top 10.  Prevents someone from pulling a bunch of land out of the game, but doesn't affect the average player.

Vacation in Turbo mattered because of the reset and 'winning' the round.
And after some discussion vacation mode was simply removed from turbo.

Reg currently being 3mo long there's still a need for legitimate vacation mode.  But with a reset vacation abuse does matter towards the end.

My current proposal is to disable vacation mode and kick everyone out 10 days before the reset.
Any vacation use before then, eh whatever.

Subjective rules suck, aint nobody got time for that.

I hope I didn't come across rude because I can appreciate if you did vacate specifically to protect networth.
In my opinion that's what its for. Breathing space during warfare is reasonable. Vacation from the game is like taking a couple stress days from work.
I'm a fierce competitor but I'm certainly not a sore loser. My brain reaction to seeing 3.5b in protection was how do we counter? Can we take out the rest of your teams leader players before you get back? Your team has 1less player hitting us and supplying resources do we change our attack list? Its hard to make networth and very easy to destroy.
You've been active for 2months its only fair that all players can take a few days to think about protecting themselves from destruction without being criticized. Especially on this cutthroat code. You are allowed to vacate anytime you wish for any reason you wish. My main objection is you came back too fast. Should have done it after your clan leveled us out.
Its only cheating if I do it because I'm highly judged based on my strategic actions. Im tricky and i win most rounds. A few years ago you could go into vacation but your stuff on the public market remains available for selling. 12hours until youre safe and another 72hours of no turns or merc refill. Always best to have turns on hand before clicking the button. Code got changed because I loaded the market and vacate. I saved lots of money and built camps for discount army prices to sell bigger amounts. I make the admin think. When they change the code it punishes us all.

Another plan for me to exploit is; does the land leak if I go into vacation with 400k on a cloaked fox? I've wondered for ages and I'll test it some day. PURE GOLD. Luv u Windy.

Open your minds people. If I do things like this? people complain instead of learning that they can do it effectively.
Much respect to RLA for a great battle so far, tides are about to turn and you'll all see that legends are based on times like these.
History will be written in two weeks. Who will win?
Thankyou for the now. I'm happy to have honorable opponents.
See you on the battlefield.

@ sevz, I am enjoying the contest, but it sucks when you're playing a team that refuses to clan.

Thanks Sevz, I like how you think each feature is written incompetently.
Landleak was mine, it's solid.  Fox cloak only affects the scores, info, and search pages; the actual networth field is not touched, so I can query it as needed.  Fox cloak doesn't affect land.

Like was mentioned, you guys cry about abuse then go and use the same tactics. What a flexible moral code you have when it benefits you. Let's keep your sociopathic tendencies ingame, aye?

Seriously though. First with vacation, now with clan hopping. Or was it another coincidence that you loaded and booted Badrang earlier this evening? Oh the hypocrisy.

As for my siggy, I updated it years ago, somewhat egotistically perhaps, to remind little punks like you that you can't always ride coattails to win sets. Sure you've been aided to rank one a few times before reset, but judging by how you utilize your turns, you don't actually have a clue how to compete without half the player base under you, sending that unlimited foreign aid.
If you like though I could update my signature, I know there's a few other times we "cheated to win" (played better than you) that you could probably cry about lol. Your petulence is reminiscent of a toddler that didn't get his own way.

QuoteYou're abusing every gap in the code possible to stay competitive. In open play we continue to smoke you guys, and we've beaten you plenty enough times to make you absolutely terrible if you've lost to us. Maybe I should list those in my signature?
Yes, we are desperately switching strategies to keep up. Btw, how did that failed kill run work out for ya LOL. The epitome of desperation.

Again, you guys adopt the same strategies only days after you try tattling on us.  Monkey see monkey do. Disbanding your clan was a feature intended for the game. The rest is strategy. Strategy that (let's not forget) you adopted after your cries of abuse were shrugged off and ridiculed by windy. oh and there was you guys losing that 3 BIL NW last night.  Might have had something to do with it. You draw the line  between "abuse" and "strategy" based on how it benefits you, you sound like shadow now haha.
Your logic is about as spotty as your Indy game, Mr landspread. Unless you have some real bug abuse to bring forth, (preferably not something you guys are also "abusing") I'd suggest allowing  volkov be the sole crier for RLA on here. Your butthurt, insipid whining is making your team look as desperate as you are, when in reality they're not /all/ as lousy as you at this game.

You've always been a little too ready to descend to that level when talking about internet rats. Chill bro, its just a game. Also, its spelled "petulance".

Pedantic Dan to the rescue. He started it! *raspberry*

Dude I have been producing more than you indy at my best. Difference is I really do not have the time to shell in for an hours worth of scraping, whereas your team seems to have all day and night to spend camped online, ready to do the noobiest trick going of onlining. It's ironic that after years of flaming people for having no lives, that at any one point at least one of your team will be sat online...even sometimes leaving and returning an hour later will still not have got rid of you. I literally have not been able to run recently because I simply don't have even 1/10th of the time for this game as you guys.

And the sad thing is this game was always egos and rivalry, but there was actually skill to the diplomacy and risks taken with clanning and takedowns and the right timing. But now it's always you guys in your sad little club, sat online all day and abusing whatever game features you can to try and stay ahead. You never take any risks and have no pride in your game or team, just sitting in the shadows, amassing net in the safety of unclanned leaders and running sad guerrilla 24hour onlining seshes. How to even compete with that...

P.S. Snare I still refuse to believe you are a real person. You are like a parody of what a functioning human should be hahaha. Also, as well as being unable to spell petulance, it appears you do not know what pedantic actually means.

Dude, you made 200m net last run? Sounds like you're extra salty, must have hit a nerve.

I'm suprised you mustered up a response, after having rage quit about a week ago after reading my original response.   ;) :'( ::)

Nice to see you playing again, for now  :-*

It was adorable of your "brother" to msg me those kind words ingame asking for a land truce, after sacking our mage to limit. Your alter ego is quite the contrary of this sassy one you've built back up in your week of absence.

EDIT: also, your ears are steaming from the onlines, how typical. Hehe. How did we cheat this time m8?

As per usual this has gone downhill pretty hard. I'm going to hand out gags indiscriminately if it continues. You're all pretty much adults now, this should be embarrassing.

This is negotiable - maybe we stop sacking if you stop onlining us?

Happy to discuss via DM (on these forums or in-game) if you're open to that.

You guys are terrorists. Just awful. I finally won the lottery and you stole my winnings after.

1.6 hours ago    Someone stole $2,991,928,829 from your treasury, though your guards them from stealing more.

You know what they say about winning the lottery. It never works out how you thought it would.

In this case, it went to better hands. We promise to cherish and love it in a way you never could :)

Cute cloud, but we're not the ones who spent the last month of last round locking the server. I made RLA so that wouldn't happen again. That was the primary goal, and looks like we succeeded to me...

I wasn't here last month, so I have no idea what you're talking about.

I figured you would downplay your intentions when you lost. You fought with everything you had to win this set. When you realized you may have actually been outclassed fair and square, all of a sudden you try to save face and claim some other victory in that this was all about lock prevention?

I thought you were better than that Volkov. After all, you guys played very impressively and I'm not afraid to admit that. We were all impressed with the challenge, and honestly didn't know if we could keep up at times.  Don't be a sore loser by downplaying things now; that was one of the bloodiest wars in rwl history!

Snare,

Read the RP posts for this round that were posted within the first few weeks of the game plus the one I made like last month or something.  It has been stated multiple times that our main goal was to keep the land flowing. It keeps the game interesting and encourages new players.  The first round of the game was terrible because a lock happened within the first month and that really discourages any new players from participating.

Yeah, like Briar said, that was the intent from the very beginning, I never said otherwise. So this isn't me downplaying anything, we set a goal for the set, and accomplished it. Win or lose, I'm happy about that.

As for being "outclassed fair and square"... OK bro. LOL. In addition to the bloodiest, this was by far the dirtiest set I've ever experienced. I've never seen one group pull as many disreputable tactics as you guys did. Camping so you could online us in the middle of runs, clan hopping constantly, maxing the land farm and team members when you weren't onlining us. If there was a tactic that wasn't outright, and provably, against the rules, you guys used it. So fair and square seems a bit laughable to me.  I will say this though, I am impressed by the tenacity you guys showed. No matter how times we knocked you down, you kept coming after us.

As for who will win the set, I guess we'll have to see. Set isn't over yet.

What year is it?   :o Are your personalities frozen in time? Have you all been replaced by intelligent bots? Is this an April Fool's Day joke? HOW ELSE COULD THIS BE HAPPENING?

I could cut and paste this whole thread, plonk it down in 2008, and no-one would bat an eye.

Either way, it's weirdly reassuring. But play a bit nicer?

This makes me feel young again. Or very old. I'm not sure.

-Holby, not really modding.

You should play again Holby! It does keep you young! This round of RWL was just like the old days, and while it was frustrating, it also gave me waves of nostalgia.

It's funny you mention it Holby. I actually clicked on one of the threads Windy mentioned earlier in the thread, and the 2008 version of this battle was hilariously similar.
