I actually started putting in food as I saw we had no ferrets, so I was hoping to have better profits that way in lieu of the troops the other warlords were PMing away~
didn't thing food would drop below $15 tho! :O

As it turns out, you've returned at a most auspicious time, given that I haven't seen a full, "Top 10" with active players in the last year until this set :)
It does give me hope for the future of the community, seeing old fans trickle in whether from some wild whim or from the small efforts of myself et al.  It's possible some you remember could be about here, though you mention Death, & while I'm reluctant to discuss the private business of others publically, I feel it's ultimately right (for posterity for others who also try to find an old, online friend) : Death, in tragic irony, died last year.

Now for me to segue in the clumsiest fashion -The only other functional Prom (no need for turns to queue if you just get 'em all at signup :P ) is Shoot's "Happy Pony Raisers" for those interested in playing his variant he'd been working on over the past few years. But be forewarned that player interaction outside of PMs & Espionage is disabled, hence the name ;)

For all my previous aversion to critter-prom, I'm glad I could finally come around to it. I can't speak for the disappearance of all the other Proms of old (a story for each, no doubt), but the community here hasn't entirely disappeared, & that's gotta count for something. I have no idea if Redwall more readily lends itself to RP & further immersion in-game as opposed to the Vanilla, High Fantasy variants elsewhere, but it seems to make sense to me.
Also to the credit of the industrious admins & developers, their capacity to engage in special in-game events & themed sets, to me, was wholly unheard of, & I do hope we see such games again in the near future :D

Personally, I've always been a casual, amatuer player, but the sites I was most active on (when I wasn't burnt out on hyper competetiveness), were tgamerzone.net & NWOPromisance. I also very briefly ventured into Valhall & QMT, but I never felt terribly inclined to stick it out there. Names I've used include Lonewolf, Desperado, Drake & Jester.. used to role with Lifescoldbreath/ColdZero but I can't seem to get the time o' day with him these days~

Anyways, Welcome Back! :D

I'd honestly thought kills were a thing of the past; not sure how beneficial the mechanic actually is with our player base being as small as it is. I could definitely see it adding real stakes to the game, if the sort of Emperor usurping, Net min-maxing feels tired to ya'll. However, for those of us more "casual" players, & especially for brand new, prospective players, I'd wish that we would exercise caution. That or make the "Painted One" invulnerable to outright kills, given that that's supposed to be sort of the Noob race anyhow.
I think that if kills were to reimplemented, that the Attacker/Stamina would be better suited in lieu of the sort of "Max Attacks" on a given defender.

Funny I was hoping for some more dialogue herein... turns out today's very exciting :P

Say I was new, not being familiar with the player dynamics here at all, & I wanted to view the leaderboard, so in turn making a new Warlord. I see 2 Pokemon, one is clanned, the other is not: SCANDAL!

Was it a bad breakup? Did BamBam make Porygon swoon in a way that Growlithe could not? Did Growlithe see Porygon for the toxic virus of a Pokemon the he was, & knew the only healthy option was to focus on himself? Instead of just rebounding on the next dreamy-eyed Warlord?

I can only speculate~

Nice hot take there, far more eloquent than my assumption that was about the color coding being off~

yikes, Salamandastron definitely sounds like the sort o' story where it's beneficial to have read the preceding titles. Possibly to have more an investment in the denizens of the Abbey & such~
In the interim, I'll definitely try to keep an eye out for the first entries in the series at my local second hand store, but I'm currently happy with Taggerung for my first :D

General Discussion / Re: Attracting new players
March 08, 2021, 03:16:32 PM
It seems a hard sell for me; I've intermittently run the Promisance FB page for a while, even opting to "boost" posts as a means of advertisement w/o too much out-of-pocket. I believe the RWL FB page has done so as well, possibly even more successfully with having such a dedicated community for as long as it has.

But despite my efforts to promote the game via FB, Reddit (where it seems most of my Prom-posts seem to get auto-removed), & the odd forum community, actual returns are sparse, with most seeds only seldom bearing fruit. Now that I think about it, I haven't actually tried posting since the Redwall Series announcement... Someone else who has better luck on Reddit should try xP

It still is my firm belief that if we had a compatible IOS/Android app that could competently execute the functions in-game, that would do alot of good to facilitate approachability to more new, potential players. I do recall Uiblis mentioning a willingness to attempt its composition, so I'm conscientiously hopeful, & would most certainly support more independant or cooperative efforts.

Strategy / Re: Magpie Strategy
March 08, 2021, 12:23:49 PM
I haven't used Magpie since I first came, but I mostly used the strat layed out here: http://www.redwallwarlords.com/forums/index.php?topic=13859.0

Couple notes:
1) I ended up using more of a leader strat because for much of that set, it seemed the only way for me to make successful land grabs.
2) Tax Evasion is your friend, so make sure your leader ratio is on point as that'll make your land grabs less taxing (go figure), works identically to Rain Dance.
3) Someone else here might have a better strategy for really capitalizing on the public market, to gain a more competetive edge in the long game :P

Spa Room 101 / Something of a Birthday post~
March 06, 2021, 02:15:48 PM

They finally had a Redwall book at my local Savers, & though I might've preferred one of the earlier titles, I figured this seemed enough like a stand-alone story to enjoy (w/o it spoiling any of the other books) as I dip my toes into the series :)
Reviews seem solid after I brought it home, & it seems a respectable number of Redditors rate it among their top 5 Redwall books~
Anybody check this one out? Any arguments as to why Taggerung is a good or a bad place to start?

General Discussion / Re: My return
March 06, 2021, 01:57:14 PM
Happy to hear Valhall people still exist; always a laugh when I remember my first time there, I made an empire, & upon leaving protection, a random dude asks me where my hole was xD
The most Prom I'd ever played though was on tgamerzone.net (which you can only find on archive.org now) & NWO promisance later. I could never really call myself a consistent player since I burn out quick, but since coming here, it's been a good experience. All of the good ol' slugfest I remember w/o all of the egregious toxicity despite the couple old threads that do indicate the RWL community was not completely immune to petty griefing & the like :P

I can relate; have you played critter-prom before, or were you -like me, more familiar with the vanilla themed high-fantasy variants?
the mechanics that tripped me up when I first started coming 'round here was that Wizards/Magic Users are Leaders here, & advancing/regressing between eras is moving to Mossflower (leader-strat) & then to Northlands (indy).
Also for a marginal boost in cash/food, check out the Headquarters in the game for some good ol' fashion commie rations :P
Check out the strategies section here to better hit the ground running~

am honestly surprised the name went through with all the other preventative measures I'd stumbled upon in my previous playthroughs~
