never heard of it. Learn python instead ^_^

It' so close to english you can teach yourself, and the code basically writes itself.

What he said. No matter what I try Python is the easiest and has the most potential.

The question is why...
Actionscript is basically dead, it never gained much traction.  It hasnt been updated in over 900 days, almost 3 years
That said, tutorials arnt hard to fine -> http://www.actionscript.org/resources/categories/Tutorials/

If you're looking for something to build a website with, look at PHP
Python...  you can use it, kinda, for doing things on the web.  Its a good language to play around with though, fairly simple to get a hang of, as Shadow and Ungatt said.

I guess windy's right. Actionscript probably isn't worth your time. In my personal experience, it can be extremely frustrating. It's tempting to be good at it, seeing what other people have done with it, but those people are ridiculous.

I will say though that it's a really good feeling to get something finally working in Actionscript. And knowing Actionscript makes you a valuable programmer...it did at my company anyway. I was one of three people in my company who knew Actionscript, and I was an intern. The other two were the boss and the head IT guy.

Usually if I'm looking for Actionscript tutorials, I just type stuff into google, but one site I really like is www.kirupa.com.

RWLers, your wish is my command...as long as it complies with the rules.

Thanks for the help  :) , I guess I'll learn some PHP and python instead.

Actionscript? Isn't that the thingamobob that ships with Flash? If so it's a really special purpose language. Useful for what it's designed for, but hard to get to do anything else. In terms of versatility to ease of use I'm going to have to say Perl of Python. Python makes you follow more rules, but that's a good thing for most new programmers. PHP is a specialist too, web development only.

Judging by sharptooth's post in the spa room I was leaning towards web-only

PHP would seem to be a good fit for a small website.  Its also fairly universal, Python assumes your server has the Python module installed...  most do, but some dont.  Free hosts are especially hit and miss.

Desktop use, especially if just playing around, sure. Python

I'd focus on one or the other myself, dont split yourself.  Most languages are mutually incompatible syntax wise.

edit: fixed link
