Dying/Losing Troops

What determines how many troops you lose when you attack someone or are attacked? Is it purely random or a certain percentage of how many troops you have? Where does raise defenses tie into this?

raise defenses is only for leader use defense(steals, murders).  Do not know about troop loss though it is a percentage of how much you have to how much they have base on the offense and defense points(insert math)

health plays a factor on how many troops you loose, so having it high at the end of runs is always a good idea.

I'm pretty sure raise defenses thirds losses. My second question (more specifically) how does that affect the troops lost while they are dying and how many die as you attack and are attacked.

And I didn't know about the health part. This is getting to be complicated.

RD doesn't affect troop losses in any meaningful fashion at present. I'll post the math when I get home for troop loss calculations.
